EXPERTISE
Athens Olympic Museum
The Olympic Museum in Athens, Greece, displays artifacts and educates on the history of the Olympic Games, for both the ancient games originating in Greece and the modern international games. The lighting approach is integral to the conception of the architectural space and the displays. The conceptual lighting design was developed by the Architect, who reached out to Loisos + Ubbelohde for assistance in executing the concept.

KLab communicated their intentions for lighting primarily through renderings. Through additional analysis of architectural plans and sections, L+U developed fixture layouts and fixture specifications. Care was taken to integrate the fixtures into the architecture, and to select fixtures with photometrics that could achieve the desired effect. A limited budget was a constant challenge to the ambitious lighting goals, resolved with criteria for fixture selection being strictly adhered to during the value engineering process.
